Schneider Electric integrates Bender insulation monitoring

Schneider Electric and Bender GmbH & Co. KG are stepping up their cooperation. Schneider has completely integrated Bender's insulation monitoring devices into its energy management system EcoStruxure for the health care sector. These Bender devices ensure reliable power supply in critical areas of hospitals (e. g. operating theatres, intensive care units).

For hospitals, Schneider offers reliable and safe solutions for the energy distribution in the medium voltage and low voltage range. A solution for higher energy-efficiency is available with the EcoStruxure system. For operating theatres and intensive-care units unearthed power systems (IT systems) are used together with this system. These unearthed systems require a special safety and circuit technology. Especially for this type of application Bender developed an insulation monitoring device (ISOMETER®) that continuously monitors the insulation resistance of a circuit. In the case of fault currents an alarm is triggered, but the power supply is not cut off, as a sudden loss of power in such sensitive areas could endanger patients or destroy valuable examination results. Contrary to conventional TN-S systems, the system can still be operated after a first fault until the system can be switched off for a repair without any danger.
